The electoral commission says the document contradicts the party’s official primary report, which identified Governor Hope Uzodimma as the winner of the senatorial contest.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Imo State has petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force over a disputed All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary result document circulating on social media.

The document allegedly presents former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, as the winner of the APC primary for Imo West Senatorial District, also known as Orlu Zone.

In separate letters dated October 5 and October 8, 2026, Imo State Resident Electoral Commissioner Chukwuemeka Ibeziako reportedly described the document as fictitious and inconsistent with the primary result submitted to INEC’s national headquarters.

According to the commission, the authentic report, dated May 18, 2026, identified Governor Hope Uzodimma as the winner of the party’s senatorial primary. INEC said the APC subsequently forwarded Uzodimma’s name as its candidate for the district.

The commission disclosed that it attached copies of both the authentic report and the disputed document to its petitions as Annexures A and B, respectively, to assist the security agencies in investigating the matter.

INEC also expressed concern that the circulation of the disputed document could threaten public peace and security in Imo State. It consequently urged the DSS and police to investigate its origin, establish the circumstances surrounding its circulation and take appropriate action in accordance with the law.

The petitions place the matter before the security agencies for investigation. However, the circumstances surrounding the creation and circulation of the disputed document, including responsibility for its production, remain matters for investigation.
