President Bola Tinubu is expected to launch his 2027 re-election campaign in Kaduna State on October 24, according to Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council.

Yari announced the proposed date on Friday after briefing Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on preparations for the campaign. He said the President had requested an update on the council’s activities and its proposed schedule for visits across the country.

According to Yari, the campaign council’s inaugural meeting is scheduled for October 14 at the State House Banquet Hall. He added that the campaign would begin in Kaduna before moving to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and Maiduguri, Borno State. The full itinerary, he said, would be made public after the council’s inauguration.

The former Zamfara State governor also expressed confidence in Tinubu’s prospects, arguing that a presidential candidate needs support across both northern and southern Nigeria to secure victory. He cited the President’s claimed political support across the two regions as part of the APC’s calculations ahead of the election.

Yari further defended the administration’s performance, saying the government had made progress on the economic challenges it inherited and would continue its policies. These remarks reflect the campaign council’s position on the administration’s record.

The comments come as political parties and their prospective candidates prepare for the 2027 presidential election. The Independent National Electoral Commission’s revised timetable schedules the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, with presidential campaigns having commenced on August 19, 2026.

Yari’s announcement sets out the APC campaign council’s proposed opening event and subsequent stops. The dates and itinerary should be treated as the council’s announced plans, pending any further official updates.
