Nigerian street-pop singer Seyi Vibez headlined the Grand Turnup Affair, popularly known as GTA, organised by Mainland Block Party as part of its Independence Day celebration in Lagos on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

The event was held at Sol Beach, Elegushi Private Beach, Lagos, and ran into the early hours of Friday, October 2. It brought together music lovers and nightlife enthusiasts for a beachside celebration built around music, entertainment and street-pop culture.

Seyi Vibez’s appearance came shortly after the release of his latest album, SWAGUU, a 14-track project released on September 18, 2026. The album features tracks including “GTA” and “SWAGUU”, with American rapper Quavo appearing on the title track.

The singer used the Lagos event to showcase songs from his latest project alongside selections from his recent catalogue. The “GTA” track, which shares its name with the event, was among the songs connected to the celebration and the new musical era surrounding SWAGUU.

The Grand Turnup Affair was promoted as an Independence Day special and formed part of Mainland Block Party’s programme of large-scale music and entertainment events. The beach setting at Sol Beach gave Thursday’s celebration a different atmosphere from the organisation’s previous editions held at larger conventional venues.

The October performance also followed Seyi Vibez’s appearance at Mainland Block Party’s May Day edition at the Police College in Ikeja earlier in 2026. He headlined that event alongside artistes including Small Doctor, Shoday, Muyeez, Kayode and Boy Muller, with Punch reporting that thousands of music lovers attended.

With SWAGUU marking a new chapter in Seyi Vibez’s music career, his headline appearance at the GTA event provided fans in Lagos with an opportunity to experience songs from the project in a live setting while celebrating Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
