The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ogun State Command, has commissioned a new operational office in Olorunda as part of efforts to strengthen its presence and intensify the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the community.

The facility was provided by the Orunda of Olorunda, Oba Dr Joshua Olusegun Phillips-Ogunsola, and was commissioned on Tuesday as part of efforts to deepen cooperation between the anti-drug agency, traditional institutions, security agencies and residents.

The commissioning ceremony attracted traditional rulers and representatives of security agencies, including the Divisional Police Officer in Olorunda and officers from the Nigerian Army and other security formations.

Speaking at the event, Oba Phillips-Ogunsola said he provided the facility as part of his commitment to supporting the campaign against illicit drugs and protecting residents from the harmful consequences of drug abuse.

The monarch commended the Ogun State NDLEA Command for its efforts against drug abuse and trafficking, stressing that community support was necessary for law enforcement agencies to operate effectively at the grassroots.

Ogun State NDLEA Commander, Commander Tijjani Rabe, thanked the traditional ruler and residents for providing the facility. He described the gesture as an example of community ownership of the fight against illicit drugs and called for continued cooperation among security agencies, traditional institutions and the public.

Rabe disclosed that NDLEA personnel had already been deployed to Olorunda to commence operations and directed the officers to maintain professionalism and discipline. The ceremony also featured the hoisting of the Nigerian and NDLEA flags, while Oba Phillips-Ogunsola received an Award of Appreciation and a War Against Drug Abuse banner for his support.
