Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has urged Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 general elections, regardless of the candidates they intend to support.

Makinde made the call in a video shared on his official Instagram page, where he displayed his own PVC while encouraging eligible voters to participate in the electoral process.

The governor described the PVC as an important instrument for citizens to exercise their constitutional right to choose their leaders. He urged Nigerians not to allow political differences or preferences to discourage them from obtaining their voter cards.

Makinde’s appeal comes ahead of the nationwide commencement of PVC collection scheduled for October 9, 2026. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed the date for the collection of newly issued cards ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Fellow Nigerians, INEC has said October 9, 2026, as the date for people to start collecting their PVC. This is your power, irrespective of who you want to vote for,” Makinde said in the video.

He urged eligible Nigerians to collect their cards and use them during the 2027 election cycle, stressing that participation in the electoral process should not depend on an individual’s preferred political candidate.

Makinde’s message comes as political parties and electoral stakeholders intensify preparations for the 2027 elections. INEC says the national register of voters has risen above 103 million following the latest Continuous Voter Registration exercise, while the commission continues preparations for the polls.
