Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has unveiled his starting line-up for Nigeria’s crucial World Cup qualifying clash against Madagascar, with goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali returning to the starting XI.

Nwabali will operate behind a four-man defence comprising Ola Aina, Bruno Onyemaechi, Semi Ajayi and Calvin Bassey as Nigeria look to secure a positive result in the encounter.

Midfield anchorman Wilfred Ndidi has also been handed a starting role, while Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze and Alex Iwobi provide attacking and creative options for the Nigerian side.

Chelle has also opted to hand Chidera Ilenikhena a starting berth, with Adams included in the line-up as Nigeria seek to make a strong opening statement in their qualification campaign.

The starting XI also features George, who is set to make his Super Eagles debut, while Ndidi is set to reach another international milestone with his 80th appearance for Nigeria.

On the bench, Chelle has Tolu Arokodare, Taiwo Awoniyi, Benjamin Fredrick, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Nwafor Nwaiwu, Maduka Okoye, Fernandez, Isaac, Moses Simon, Frank Onyeka and Raphael Onyedika as options for the match.

Nigeria enter the encounter under pressure to make a strong start, with Chelle stressing the importance of the opening fixture in building momentum for the campaign. The coach has also warned of Madagascar’s threat, recalling the island nation’s victory over Nigeria at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
