The Federal Government has issued a two-week ultimatum to motorists and other road users on the Lagos section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway to comply with prescribed safety regulations or risk the closure of the route.

The directive is aimed at addressing safety concerns and ensuring that road users adhere strictly to regulations governing the use of the newly developed coastal highway.

According to the Federal Government, motorists and other users are expected to use the two-week window to regularise their activities and comply with all applicable safety requirements.

Authorities warned that failure to meet the stipulated safety standards within the grace period could result in the shutdown of the affected section of the highway.

The development comes as the government intensifies efforts to improve safety and orderly movement along the Lagos section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, which has attracted significant traffic since its opening.

Motorists have therefore been urged to familiarise themselves with the applicable regulations and take immediate steps to ensure full compliance before the expiration of the two-week deadline.

The Federal Government said enforcement measures would follow at the end of the grace period, with non-compliant road users facing restrictions as authorities move to prevent safety risks along the strategic highway.
