Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda says that the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu are enabling states to execute major development projects while meeting salary and pension obligations without resorting to borrowing.
Governor Radda made the remarks on Sunday during the Tinubu/Dikko Assured (TDA) 2027 Islamiyya Teachers’ Empowerment, School Commissioning and Virtual Commissioning of 45 Solar Streetlights held at the Continental Events and Sports Complex in Katsina.
The governor said leadership should be evaluated based on tangible achievements and measurable results rather than political rhetoric, stressing that elected leaders must honour the promises they make to the people.
According to him, Katsina State has moved away from the era of borrowing to pay workers’ salaries, revealing that his administration has executed projects worth more than ₦30 billion without taking loans, while ensuring the prompt payment of salaries and pensions.
Governor Radda reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prudent financial management, saying every project currently being executed in the state is funded without borrowing.
He commended the Tinubu/Dikko Assured initiative for supporting grassroots communities, particularly Islamiyya school teachers, and announced a personal donation of ₦10,000 to each of the 690 beneficiaries, amounting to ₦7 million.
The governor urged citizens, corporate organisations and philanthropists to complement the government’s efforts through community-based interventions, noting that sustainable development requires collective participation.
He also cautioned residents against allowing misinformation to overshadow genuine developmental achievements and challenged political aspirants to present practical solutions and clear development blueprints to the electorate.
In his address, former Katsina State Governor and Chairman of TETFund Aminu Masari said public office holders must remain committed to improving the welfare of citizens, insisting that the achievements of President Tinubu and Governor Radda were visible across key sectors.
Masari cited ongoing federal infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and other strategic road networks, as well as improvements on the Kaduna-Abuja Highway, describing them as evidence of purposeful leadership capable of boosting economic growth and agricultural productivity.
Also speaking, the Director-General of Tinubu/Dikko Assured (TDA) 2027, Umar Zayyad, said the organisation had expanded its interventions to Islamiyya schools in line with its commitment to supporting education and community development.
He explained that the initiative was inspired by Tinubu’s leadership and noted that the president had expressed satisfaction with Governor Radda’s development strides during his recent visit to Katsina State.
The Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, Bala Musawa, applauded Governor Radda’s empowerment programmes and development initiatives, expressing confidence that the party would retain its political dominance in the state during the 2027 general elections.
The event attracted top government officials, traditional rulers, political leaders, business community representatives, and other dignitaries from across the state.
